Generative AI Content Engine for Automated Curriculum Material Creation

A growing EdTech platform headquartered in Bengaluru, India needed a scalable way to generate learning material across multiple subjects and grade levels. Their content team manually created quizzes, summaries, flashcards, and teacher notes, which made curriculum expansion slow and resource-intensive. To accelerate academic content production, the organization engaged an AI engineering team to build a generative AI content engine capable of producing structured educational material automatically from curriculum inputs.

Problem Statement

Manual content creation required 4–6 hours per chapter per subject.
Maintaining consistency across different creators was challenging.
Scaling to new grades and subjects required substantial staffing.
The platform lacked automated tooling to convert curriculum text into usable teaching resources.
Teachers needed quick, accurate summaries for classroom preparation.

Solution Approach

Parsed curriculum chapters using spaCy to identify concepts, learning objectives, and difficulty levels.
Built a LLaMA-3–powered content engine that generated quizzes (MCQs, short answers, fill-in-the-blanks), lesson summaries, flashcards, and teacher notes.
Implemented FastAPI endpoints to allow teachers to upload chapters and instantly receive structured content.
Created a curriculum-mapping layer in PostgreSQL for grade alignment, chapter grouping, and auto-tagging.
Used AWS Batch to run bulk generation workflows for 400+ chapters simultaneously.
Implemented a quality-scoring module that compared generated content with curriculum learning outcomes.
Added PDF export using Puppeteer, giving teachers ready-to-use worksheets and notes.
